White Snakeroot  - Ageratina altissima


Features clusters of petite, frothy white flowers that can grow to a height of 2 to 4 feet. Its elongated stems gracefully bear leaves with serrated edges, somewhat resembling hearts. These charming blossoms persist from late summer well into the fall, often surviving beyond the first frost.

The delicate white flowers of White Snakeroot attract a diverse array of insects, including bees, butterflies, and moths. Several species of caterpillars, such as those of the Ruby Tiger Moth, feed on the foliage of this plant, further enriching its ecological significance.

White Snakeroot  thrives in damp soil under the shade of trees or in areas with partial sun. It can tolerate periods of drought once established. This low-maintenance plant is known for its resilience and ability to grow in various soil types, including sandy or clay soils. When the soil is first disturbed, this plant may appear abundant as it spreads however, once an area is established, White Snakeroot settles down and coexists harmoniously with other plants.
